President's Message

Happy Fall, Y’all!

Have you been able to cruise Skyline Drive at Shenandoah National Park to take in the breathtaking sights of the autumn leaves during this most beautiful time of year? The changing fall foliage never fails to surprise and delight us.

While we did not get to tap the keg for the Oktoberfest opening, we sure had a fabulous time at our 4th Annual Oktoberfest luncheon with the excellent entertainment provided by the band Lost Lederhosen. It was fantastic to see so many of you joining us, wearing your Dirndl, celebrating, singing, and dancing. I believe this year we set the record for the longest ASCGWA conga line. Thank you to Jenn Price for the Oktoberfest trivia - we all learned a little more about this traditional German custom.

A huge shout out to our amazing board, who worked tirelessly to bring our luncheon together. It was great to see Patton Hall transform with Bavarian flags, decorations, treats, and of course, the pretzels!
Thank you to our vendors and the staff at Patton Hall for their authentic meal.

Your club is busy, and we have some incredible tours coming up, along with all the other great events within our Special Activities clubs and Zip Code Groups. Come hungry when you join us for the Historic Old Town Alexandria Food Tour. We will stop at three locations to sample dishes made especially for us.
While you enjoy the Fredericksburg Historic Trolley Tour, travel back in time and follow the steps that George Washington himself traveled throughout his childhood days. Be sure not to miss out on all the wonderful events the club has planned for you. For the latest and greatest information, visit our website and social media sites.

Thank you to all who donated gift cards for our charitable cause in October. We were able to collect $425 for the Holiday Food Basket Program. THANK YOU for your kind donations and to Liz for organiz-
ing this.

Our beloved Festival of Firs is back! I am excited to see what beautiful trees and wreaths will be finding their new owner at our luncheon this month.

The Lynch Creek Farm fundraiser is open; their wreaths and garlands make beautiful holiday gifts.
There is a wide variety from autumn to Christmas greenery. All proceeds will support our Scholarship fund.

As we approach a very busy time with the holidays, I hope you take time to honor our Soldiers and Veterans on Veterans Day and celebrate Thanksgiving with your loved ones near or far.

I am grateful for each of you, and the friendship and fellowship we share in this club.
